31st January 2008 Windsurfing: Ynyslas Wind Direction: W Wind Stength: 25-40 knots Surf / Sea State: big out back Air Temperature: 7ºC Sea Temperature: 8ºC Weather: Cloudy Max Speed: 31.2 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 16.5 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise) The mad 50+ knot winds eased off a little as Sion arrived so off we went. I was nicely powered with my 4.5m and my little JP wave board, although the wind was very gusty so there was the odd occasion that I could have done with a little more. Loads of nice fast runs and lots of nice jumps. Just perfect really, no need to go out too far from the beach, just good old Westerly blasting. Chris joined us with his kite too and seemed to be having fun. I even plucked up the courage (in the end) to go for a forward loop which was moderataly successful. I got all the way around and landed in the waterstart position, but as I tried to waterstart the wind got under my board and lifted into the air so I didn't quite sail away from it. Took my GPSr with me as well so I had some speed readings for the day as well. Glad I went for it though as it didn't hurt anywhere near as much as my last attempt! |
